One of the most important standards used globaly for electronic data interchange is EDIFACT (subset of UN/CEFACT). In Romania, the implementation of this standard started in 2003 with a experimental setup at one of the national retail chains. In 2005 other retail chains and DIY chains started using this standard for their communication with the suppliers.
